In recent years, Tanzania has witness a number of climate-related disasters, namely flooding, droughts, pests, widespread crop failures, livestock deaths and intensification of climate sensitive diseases among others.
Late June 2020, the AFRICAP Tanzania team hosted a national policy dialogue workshop in Tanzania, facilitated by ESRF and attended by the Ministry of Agriculture.
In addition to robust discussion of climate change risks and food security in Tanzania, the workshop reflected on the benefits of the AFRICAP programme which was lauded by Director of National Food Security, Dr. Honest Kessy, as a way to facilitate productive development of sustainable, climate-smart agriculture systems that will help meet food and nutritional demands in the country.
