Female Applicants

GCRF African SWIFT is committed to trying to achieve gender balance and diversity in its activities. We recognise that there are significant obstacles for female applicants in applying for and carrying out research fellowships such as this where travel is usually required. In order to redress the gender balance, we have made this second and final call for the SWIFT fellowships flexible in location and in terms of travel required (to allow for familial commitments) and with a focus on women’s professional development in SSA.

GCRF African SWIFT recognises that female applicants who are not coming from a research background may need support in submitting their proposals and/or documents that display the applicant’s ability to publish written work. If you have concerns around this, please do not be put off applying, but contact the GCRF African SWIFT Programme Manager, Dr Lorraine Youds (l.h.youds@leeds.ac.uk), to discuss your application.

Please note that female applicants may request support on submitting their application from SWIFT Programme Manager, Dr Loraine Youds (l.h.youds@leeds.ac.uk) and/or, nominated SWIFT partner female mentors:
